Singing Your Right Hand Fingers – Villa Lobos Etude 1 – Video Practice Journal – April 25, 2012

by Rob Reid on April 25, 2012

Hey Guys,

A bit of a different concept here. This video talks about the Villa Lobos Etude 1 arpeggio however this is really applicable to any arpeggio that you may be working on. It involves the concept of accenting fingers but also “singing” them.

It’s something I came up with a few years ago while really working on the Etude One by Villa Lobos and I’ve never really heard any other teachers mention something like this but I find it to be really beneficial.

Really useful stuff. Love the ‘singing each finger’. Thanks Rob.

I do the singing finger thing too, have done for years. It was actually taught to me by my teacher over 20 years ago.
