Video Answer: How To Limit Performance Anxiety On The Classical Guitar – Youtube User: EctothermalPuppy

by Rob Reid on May 1, 2012

Hey Everyone,

Hope you had a great weekend. I got a great question tonight from Youtuber EctothermalPuppy who asked the following question:

Can you touch on how to practice to reduce/deal with performance anxiety. Maybe a quickie on improving one’s tremolo.

I just took over the first question tonight as I’ve been getting something in the works in regards to tremolo that isn’t quite ready yet.

This is probably one of the biggest concerns of aspiring classical guitarists and while there is no “magic bullet” there are definitely a lot of things you can do to make sure that you don’t suffer a debilitating case of the nerves every time you walk on stage!

After starting this video and thinking about it some more I think there is probably even more I can talk about so if there is enough interest on this one I’ll make some more vids on the subject.

Check Out The Video Here:

Cheers!

Rob

Just happened upon your blog while on FB. Looks like an excellent resource. I’m going to check out some of your other posts.
A bit ironic doing a post on performance anxiety and you placing the camera waaay down low making you look all big and scary!
Anyhow, I haven’t personally “played out” in many years–in fact haven’t been playing much at all the past few years. Hoping to get some motivation to jump back in from your blog.
Good luck with your studies as well!

Thanks Steve :)

Hahaha, that definitely wasn’t the intention! I don’t have a proper tripod for my iPhone so i just prop it on the music stand lol.

Good luck getting back into things and don’t hesitate to ask any questions if you think I might be of any help, I need more ideas for my videos.

Cheers,

Rob
